ESTHER PAULS: FOR WARD 7
• COMMON SENSE
• RESPECT
• SERVITUDE IN LEADERSHIP
Serving Ward 7 since 2018, Esther remains a devoted voice on Council, championing local priorities like public safety, infrastructure repair, green space upgrades, and housing options that people can afford.
From expanding care capacities at Macassa Lodge to delivering the fully inclusive playground at Inch Park, Esther focuses on results. Her efforts include the vital Rymal Road widening, modernization of Upper Wellington and the Sherman Cut, and securing necessary law enforcement resources to keep families safe.
An accomplished nine-time Ironman competitor, she applies that same tireless stamina and focus to her work as your City Councillor, meeting every community challenge with practical solutions and unwavering grit.
Esther’s perspective is shaped by her two terms of public service, her history as a local entrepreneur, her leadership on the Hamilton Police Services Board, and her role as a mother of four. These experiences define her straightforward approach to balancing budgets and protecting our neighbourhoods with both heart and fiscal wisdom.
Always available to listen through a phone call or a face-to-face meeting, Esther has a clear record of putting her residents first to build a better city for all of us. She is honored by your trust and driven by a sincere desire to serve. Your concerns remain her focus as she works to ensure a bright, secure, and thriving future for Ward 7.

Platform and Commitments
RESPONSIBLE FISCAL MANAGEMENT
As residents face the financial strain of rising costs, Esther believes City Hall must lead with stricter discipline and transparency. She maintains that taxpayers deserve a responsible budget that prioritizes essential community needs. She remains steadfast in her commitment to cutting unnecessary expenditures and reallocating funds to urgent priorities—such as repairing aging roads, enhancing sidewalks, upgrading water mains, and maintaining the infrastructure Ward 7 relies on daily.
HOUSING
Esther Pauls has long championed a comprehensive spectrum of support for residents striving to secure and maintain affordable housing. Ward 7 is witnessing tangible progress under her watch, with three new affordable housing developments scheduled for completion this year and in 2027. She recognizes that housing extends beyond bricks and mortar. Esther continues to advocate for robust support systems for residents facing interconnected challenges like addiction, mental health issues, and unemployment. She believes that stable housing, paired with meaningful community resources, is vital for fostering healthier and more resilient neighbourhoods.
PARK ENHANCEMENT AND BEAUTIFICATION
Esther views local parks as the soul of the community—essential spaces where families unite, children play, and seniors stay active. These green spaces allow residents to recharge from the pressures of daily life. By prioritizing accessible playgrounds, sports fields, and trails, she aims to improve the quality of life for everyone. One such example is the current installation of Inch Park's All Abilities Playground (due for completion later this year), welcoming children and youth of all physical abilities to enjoy this unique new playground in ways conventional playgrounds may not afford them. Esther is deeply dedicated to the beautification of all of Ward 7’s parks, striving to make them Hamilton's premier outdoor spaces.
SAFETY ON OUR ROADS AND IN OUR COMMUNITIES
Public safety is a top priority for Esther, rooted in strong partnerships and proactive leadership. She remains a powerful advocate on Council for the Hamilton Police Service, ensuring frontline officers have the resources required to protect neighborhoods effectively. Furthermore, she believes that fostering positive connections between law enforcement and local youth is essential for crime prevention. By keeping young people engaged through recreation and community service, she aims to create life-changing opportunities. This vision led her to champion Hamilton’s bid for the 2028 International Children’s Games, as she has seen how mentorship and sports build the confidence and discipline necessary for a bright future.
IMPROVEMENTS FOR SENIORS
As Hamilton’s senior population grows, Esther is committed to ensuring the city evolves to meet their needs. She advocates for affordable housing and vibrant community centers where seniors can gather and thrive. Her work includes pushing for expanded support for Ward 7 seniors, such as the increased bed capacity at Macassa Lodge and continued investment in the Sackville Seniors Recreation Centre. As a senior herself, Esther deeply understands these unique challenges and remains dedicated to ensuring every older resident feels heard, respected, and fully supported.
